  1. At some point you are confronted with the reality that sub-Saharan Africa just wasn't that important to the evolution of humanity over the last 3000 years. Nothing much of any consequence to the rest of the world happened there. There were no great civilisations, no technological innovation, no great architecture, no great literature or philosophy. White Europeans have paid plenty of attention to non-European civilisations for several centuries - China, India, Mesopotamia, Egypt were all intensely studied and admired. The reason they never talked much about "Black history" wasn't because of racism, but because there really wasn't much to talk about.
