  1. Exactly - this is classic totalitarian tactics. No one is allowed to ever have anything for themselves, everything must be about glorifying the regime, and you must be willing to instantly condemn anyone and everyone in your life who will not do so. Notice how the left will routinely cut off friends and family instantly over political differences, but the right seldom does.

  2. One of the hallmarks of totalitarian regimes is the desire to totally erase any kind of private, personal space for people to retreat into. They believe everything must be about acclaiming the regime and advancing the ideology. "The personal is political" is a pure totalitarian statement.
