"Butter milk and cheese is so good for us." Yes they are actually. The notion that they're not, is a hangover from the disproved lipid hypothesis of heart disease.

I'm completely OK with smoking in indoor public spaces being banned - it was unpleasant and unhealthy for everyone else. Doing it outdoors - whatever. Not my business.

They have neither the ability nor the desire to do anything to tackle the real problems of the country - so they amuse themselves by beating up anything they can beat up on. (Especially if it coincides with attacking traditional white British cultural venues like pubs).

They're both bad.

@EP3mentalist Actually no, it's "tough" for you since we had this debate 20 odd years ago, and you lost. Deservedly so. Dangerous and unpleasant working environments are not considered a matter of personal choice. Industrial plants must protect staff and the public against leaks of hazardous chemicals. Public venues must protect staff and customers from the risk of fire and carcinogens caused by tobacco. A small minority of selfish and irresponsible people don't have the right to put everyone else in danger just because they can't be bothered to go outside to light up.

Never seen the guy before - but was very impressed how persuasively he argued his case. He is correct that always giving into the libertines - creates a horrible environment for everyone else.

@gagamba9198 As I explained to last whining smoker: "Dangerous and unpleasant working environments are not considered a matter of personal choice. Industrial plants must protect staff and the public against leaks of hazardous chemicals. Public venues must protect staff and customers from the risk of fire and carcinogens caused by tobacco".

Interestingly - the stink of marijuana hovers like a disgusting fog over every British city now. And the left are completely OK with that.

Very impressed by the guy in the purple jacket - made a very eloquent and persuasive argument for "repression" being a lot more humane than the "do anything" culture of the west.
