  3. A huge part of manufacturing consent is simply silencing anyone who objects - either through shaming language or by only letting certain opinions on the airwaves. This is why the "pro-immigration consensus" (which of course never existed) totally imploded as soon as social media allowed people to bypass the traditional media.
