  1. You don't have to go back that far. I grew up in rural England in the 80s and 90s - and it was almost hard to over state just how safe and civilised it was. The idea that mass stabbings would be so routine the media would hardly report them: would have seemed unthinkable. Such things just didn't happen here: only in less civilised places. You never know what you've got until it's gone.
