  2. Indeed. In some of the promos for Star Trek Discovery: they were pushing the line that "Michael Burnham is the first black lead character in Star Trek". As someone who watched every episode of DS9 when it first went out in the 90s - that claim took my breath away.

One of things I discovered when I started making a serious effort to slim-down, was that when you are obese, you can lose a lot of weight, quite quickly, by making some relatively small changes to your lifestyle. I just reduced confectionary and carb intake, and I lost several kilos in just a couple of months without even counting my calories or exercising. (Which I started doing later). The more weight you have, the easier it is to lose it.

  13. If I might correct without disagreeing with your main point - "Phobia" actually means an excessive or irrational fear: hence why the word is nearly always used incorrectly today. You are right that we should fear obesity, but such a fear is not irrational or excessive in anyone but maybe anorexics. Sorry. I'll go now.
