People don't actually want "representation" - what they want is to see something that is a true expression of the culture that made it. That's why western audiences love anime and martial arts films: and eastern audiences love classic Disney and brash American action flicks.

You know - maybe Drinker should do a series called "Production Heaven" about the making of films that turned out just *perfect*.

What always strikes me is that the LOTR trilogy could only have been made in a very short window: a few years before, and there wouldn't have been the technology to make it work. A few years after, and we were into the age of woke, and it would have turned into "Rings of Power".
