  1. Old Trek was made by the "greatest generation", to inspire and uplift people who had been through and seen the very worst humanity was capable of, with a vision of how things could be better. New Trek was made by millennials, to tell people that they should succumb to their own worst instinct, be slaves to an ideology of pettiness and spite, and assume that everyone is just as awful as the people who made the show.
