It's makes me eye-roll so hard when 21st century film-makers try to project their own values and attitudes onto historical characters who were brought up in a totally different environment with totally different ethical systems and without any kind of fail-safe between them and death if things went south. Wokeness is a decedent luxury for rich and complacent societies who think that everything is going to be OK no matter how badly they mess everything up.

@undergrounddojokeyboardcag701 That's a common argument made by people who don't understand how narrative or story-telling works. You can have ANY conceit in a movie if the movie is based around that conceit and the rules that govern it are explained. That does not give you the right to simply ignore every rule governing our normal reality without explanation or context. Example - James Bond can have a "magic" wristwatch that disables the villains lair with an EMP burst at the critical moment - so long as he was given the watch by Q at the start of the film and Q explains what it is and how it works. That does NOT mean Bond can then just snap his fingers and make the villain spontaneously combust without any explanation because "well the watch isn't real anyway, and so now Bond can have magic pyrotechnics as well". Only bad and lazy writers use an explained and planned fantastical element as an excuse for failing to obey common reality. So - if you want to create a fictional tribe of Amazonian warriors were the women are the hunters and fighters, go ahead. But you need to explain what that society is and how it works, not just project it onto real history as if it IS real.

Better still - don't try to awkwardly shoe-horn a "strong female character" in there, and just make a film showing some Indian hunters trying to survive against a Predator. That's actually quite a cool concept, make it like "Apocalypto" and it could have been awesome.

Exactly - it's a great idea. If you ever saw "Apocalypto" the idea of doing something in that kind of style featuring some Indian hunters Vs a Predator sounds really awesome. But of course like every other great movie concept now, it gets instantly ruined by wokeness.

@undergrounddojokeyboardcag701 I'm not terribly interested in your - "Every culture except the west fits woke ideology" cliché. It's a fantasy promoted by leftist western academics like Margaret Mead who projected their own politics on to the peoples they studied. They wrote their conclusions first and then went to look for "evidence" to support it. That's not how you're supposed to do history, and real historians like John Keegan do a very good job of demonstrating the flaws with them. Fortunately people like you who think everything should be a tedious toxic preach-fest: seem to be losing. People can smell bullshit, and they vote with their wallets. I'll stick with Ghostbuster 1984, and you can have Ghostbusters 2016.
