  3. Exactly - because the people who are perpetually complaining don't actually want anything specific: they just enjoy the POWER of forcing everyone to jump when they complain. You can never please them because they will always keep complaining to give them that rush of power.

  4. In the old Soviet block, there used to be propaganda films about how the peoples of the Soviet block should be grateful to their overlords for all they had supposedly done to them. A secret police report noted with consternation that when these films were broadcast, there would be a distinct blip in the power grid as every TV set in Eastern Europe was turned off simultaneously. Even in a totalitarian regime, people have a way of making their feelings known about being force-fed bullshit.
