  1. It's hard to remember this now - but there was a time when the term "journalist", didn't invoke instant revulsion, contempt, and mockery. When "journalistic ethics" wasn't considered the ultimate contradiction in terms, and when writing about a subject for the mainstream media didn't always mean you totally despised that subject.

  21. Contrary to what actors/actresses may like to tell themselves: they're a marginal factor in the quality of drama. Writing and directing are the key things, the best you can ever really say of a cast member is they're professional. Which ought to be a baseline, but apparently isn't.
