  1. At least in most places though there are laws regulating rents and giving tenants some protections. And there used to be a lot of landlords - now we're looking at the Blackrock's of the world owning every apartment in the city and calling their rent a "subscription". That's a dark world.

  2. The social control aspect of this doesn't seem to be getting enough discussion. We just found out from the Twitter files that tech companies and the government were colluding on a massive scale to silence dissent and keep their scandals secret - imagine if they could also shut down your car, eject you from your home, terminate your banking, end your internet access etc: if you say the "wrong" thing.
