  1. The games industry has essentially learned all the dark arts the gambling industry has perfected over the years about manipulating human weakness. Most of them deeply unethical, and which caused gambling to be regulated in a way that the games industry isn't. "Free" is always the most expensive type of game.

  2. Yeah, a huge warning sign is when you're paying money to SKIP gameplay. If the game is actually fun and balanced - you shouldn't want to do that, and you're only paying to increase your ranking. I see that as different to being charged extra money for extra content that you actually enjoy.
