If "Middle class" means that your life is not a constant scrabble to make enough money to afford the basics of life, plus a few luxuries - then the number of middle class people in the west has nose-dived in the last 30 years. It absolutely appals me how many people have good jobs and yet are living pay-check to pay-check due to astronomical rents.
