  1. Just 5 years ago I would have thought this was far-fetched - now I struggle to think of one single reason why this country would not breakdown in civil conflict.

The government's response to the Southport incident was extremely ominous - there was no recognition of the strain the country was under, only a determination to demonize the native population and respond solely with repression. At that point I realized this is going to get a lot worse, because the people at the top either don't know or don't care what the problems are.

  3. It's a lot easier psychologically to shut your eyes and pretend everything is fine - unfortunately people tend to have their eyes opened far too late.

  4. @ Yeah. A lot of this clearly was deliberate, but our current cabinet is of such embarrassingly low quality intellectually: they may actually believe what they're saying.

  5. Exactly - you can see that from the decay that afflicts all the immigrant areas. They didn't build them, so they don't care.

  7. Unfortunately I think it is that stark now - we're past the point were merely restricting immigration, (even if the elites would allow that, which they won't) can fix the problem.

  12. The establishment is going to conclude the solution is more immigration and more repression of the native population. Because that is their only response to every single issue.

  13. @ I'm very open to the "this is deliberate" theory - there's a lot of evidence for it. The only caveat is that a lot of the people in power are extremely stupid (think of the Labour front bench) and I wouldn't put it past them to genuinely believe their own propaganda.
