All the time, whenever the subject of the economy is raised, and frankly when any subject regarding Britain is raised. And there's not a lot of evidence for it. And of course bearing in mind that the predications were for an apocalyptic economic collapse: not for people to be speculating that "whilst we're growing faster than the Eurozone, we might be growing even more if we had remained".

  15.  @alidbouk4132  Not really no - our troubles in the 70s were caused by rapidly increasing manufacturing competition and a steadily expanding welfare state. In the decade after the war, the empire was a drain on the economy due to the excess military spending it entailed: we were better off once it was gone. According to the website tradingeconomics, the UK had a higher rate of GDP growth in 2022 (4.1) than France (2.6), Germany (1.8) or the EU average (3.5). Hardly convincing evidence of Brexit being an economic disaster.

No country could possibly build houses at such a rate, even disregarding all the other problems.   29.  @stephenconway2468  "Who is saying that?" I'm guessing you don't consume a lot of financial media - that's the standard consensus among those who consider themselves to be "the smart money". "Do you agree that Brexit has damaged the economy to the tune of 3-6% GDP?" Well, Ii we've supposedly taken this massive hit to our economy but are still growing faster than our most comparable neighbours - then it would appear at least to be "unproven". Please note - I have not claimed any great boost from Brexit, only that it does not appear to have had the dire results that have been consistently forecast.

"Your opinion seems to be much more about immagration then population." Well. . . . . obviously. Uncontrolled and non-selective immigration has many, many downsides of which over-population is just one. If we had the same number of people in this country but all of them were native Brits, we might still be overcrowded by we would have far fewer problems. Not least because such a huge increase would not have happened over such a short period, and we would have had time to adjust.
