Algorithms are ruining the world, no doubt about that. But I wonder if another issue is that the whole music scene is just over-saturated: there's so many people now trying to make a living out of this and unlike the old days, they're not being filtered through highly picky record labels. People just have so much choice now its overwhelming.

Blaming "evil colonizers" is a very convenient alibi for the incompetence, dogmatism and corruption of post-colonial leaders. You can see this a lot in India where it's become fashionable to blame the British for all their problems: despite the fact their country wouldn't exist without Britain, all their institutions are based on British ones, and their economy magically started taking off once they dispensed with the socialist ideology they adopted for the first 40 years after independence.

The BBC has stopped even pretending to be impartial. It's like talking to a toddler trying to explain to her that the world isn't always the way you'd want it to be.

Amazing how burning down a dozen cities was "peaceful protest", but the moment conservatives just stop spending their money, the media screams "Terrorism".

I remember when it was launched, all the establishment media sneering that no one was watching and it would be gone in months. There's nothing better than the arrogant arseholes of the MSM being proved wrong.
