@LordLOC it is a shame but Niksonrex is right. The really sad part is Ukrain was and is doing the same. They used forbidden weapons in Donbass. They bombed civilians. Commited really fcked up crimes. Just look up BBC videos about Azov. But nobody in the world seemed to care. Somehow that was a okay. Those double standards just arent right.

@LordLOC and yeah the army hiding in civilian buildings and then claiming the enemy bombed civilians is something terrorist use. Just like HAMAS for example.

@icanhazADHD while I am against the war and condemn Putin, I do need to ask you to please stop saying that. Those "Glory to Ukrain. Glory to heroes." slogans are nazi rhetoric. It is directly taken from the Third Reich rhetoric.

@icanhazADHD it is not propaganda. Dude I am litteraly jewish. I was born in Ukraine and my family left it more then 20 years ago. One of the reasons were ukrainian nationalists. When my morher visited Ukraine in the last 6 years, she got verbally attacked for speaking russian. And "Слава Украине" is litteraly taken from the "Heil" you know who. Where the hell do you see propaganda? Yeag the context can be different. That is not a case here. Just look up Azov or "Правый сектор". They are a part of the regular army and a political party in Ukraine. They are openly neo-nazis. There are quite a few BBC reports and "wikileaks" about them. So yeah if there is propaganda there, it is not russian propaganda.

@icanhazADHD this has nothing to do with my veliefs or feelings, which you do not know anyway. Yes of course I am not speaking for all ukranian jews. I never said anthing like that. Just like your wife I am only speaking for myself (and my current community at best). And I do not want to be rude or anything, but I assume you and your wife do not live in Ukrain, so you are probably not educated on that topic. My family happens to follow the whole situation since before the maidan itself. And no we do not follow russian media, for more than 20 years. Well I mean we occasionaly watch КВН (a comedy show, which sadly got really bad in the last 8 years since ukrainian teams are not allowed to travel to russia) and "Что, Где, Когда" (Kind of a quizshow) just ask your wife she should know them. I just suggest you watch a few BBC Video documentaries or read about Azov, Bendera and his people or about the Right Sector party. With no ill intent, have a nice day.

@The_Keeper well that information is not yet confirmed. Russian forces did announce that they took the power plant 2 days prior to the fire. And that it was a ukrainian bomb or somwthing like that. Right now both sides are pushing their agenda, so there is no possible way to know who did it. We will need to wait till the end of the war to learn the truth from the staff of the power plant.

@LordLOC no that is the point. It is part of the story. Of course not every ukrainian citizen is a neo-nazi. And yes obviously Putin just used it as a pretence to invade. But there are a few very important points that should be made. 1. They are not just white supremasist. They are openly neo-nazis. 2. While they are a minority, there is a big far right problem in Ukrain. It was there 30 years ago and even before that. My family live there a we are jewish. The Middle and East part of Ukrain were moderate. But the West was not. They were openly antisemitic and hated Russia. They hated the people, historische, language and so on. There are two big jewish communities in Ukrain right now. In Odessa and in Dnepropetrovsk. In other cities it is not that save. 3. Azov with around 12K people of whom about 3K are openly neo-nazis is just a tip of the iceberg. The is a far right party in the government. Правый сектор. The Right Sector. 4. The ukrainian government failed at controlling those Azov fighters. Those fighters and the right winged politicians are pushing Russia's buttons since 2014. Of course Russia was gonna react at some point. This is in no way redeeming what Russia did. They failed miserable in my opinion. But it is not fair to present Russia as some kind of monster who is just out for blood.

It is a good thing your family did flee. It is not a fun country to live as a jew. There only 2 cities in Ukraine where you would be safe as a jew. Odessa and Dnepropetrovsk. Everywhere else, especially Western Ukraine you could get in a lot of trouble.
