  4. Fanta was originally developed by the German army in the 1930 to provide the troops with a easily and acessable way to intake artificial vitamin-C. To mask the taste of vitamin C they made it sort of orange juice like that have a vitamin-C like taste already from the get go. So it was made to provide both vitamin C and carbohydrates to the soldiers, to things that are practical to pack together and hence make it as a soda made it easy to distribute and also make it easy to convince the soldiers to drink. Adding orange juice was something that was done later. The point of it was originally to make it really cheap and easy to produce and provide water, vitamin-C and carbohydrate to people that other vice may be starving. Anyway, there was a war and... well Germany losses it. Due to it Fanta was sold as a war bounty to the coca cola company. Its worth saying that Fanta in Europe can contain anything from 4.6g of sugar per dL (in UK) to 11g (in Scandinavia). There is a similar span between different states in the US. So its not fair to say its "healthier" in the US, it really depend on what state you compare to what country in Europe. Worth saying that you can get the orange in europe as well. But then its called tropic fanta
