I was at the Washington Monument for Honor America Day in the early 1970's, with Bob Hope speaking to the seated crowd. Also going on there: The Great American Smoke-Out and the National Folk Life Festival. The Fuzz teargassed the tokers on Friday night and charged them on horses in such a manner the tokers had no place to run but through the seated FolkLife crowd. For an encore Saturday they gassed the tokers and charged them into the seated Honor America Day throng, who got gassed also! Those were the days, my friends...
