Yep! The late psychiatrist Thomas Szasz wrote a famous book about this, THE MYTH OF MENTAL ILLNESS". He explains that "mental illness" is, at best, a really bad metaphor. Why a "metaphor"? Because illnesses have a pathology to them, from microorganisms to tumorous growths to chemical and hormonal imbalances. This thing the "Mental Health" Industry wants to imply are "diseases" can't possibly qualify, lacking any and all ways to actually be one. Sure, there are actual organic brain diseases, but they are not "mental" in any possible way.
Instead, Szasz insisted, quite convincingly, that these mental disorders (you know, as in "OUT OF ORDER") are simply artifices that people construct because they have severe problems coping with different kinds of situations, and these artifices are self-constructs to isolate themselves from having to deal with those problems in a world that seems to them to be growing in complexity from day to day.
Most libraries will have it. I urge people to read it and begin to see the world in a new way. Handing over our lives to "health professionals" who don't understand reality any better than we do cannot be the answer.
