  1. While I respect your opinion, I strongly disagree with it. The first two points don't apply if the company initially started with an unlimited PTO plan. The third point about abusing unlimited PTO is more of a problem with the individual than the actual PTO itself (People can abuse restricted PTO too). The fourth point about showing up in performance appraisals is something you have to clarify with management (Again, the good employees probably won't abuse it). The fifth point about negative perception is valid but it feels like a psychological trick that people put on themselves. Overall, I feel like unlimited PTO can be a great thing if the company handles it correctly. It's certainly a lot better than having too little PTO. As a side note, I'm not a huge fan of the restricted PTO model because adults should be trusted to take vacation time however they see fit. The smart employees will make sure not to go overboard.
