@Lucky Among the conservatives invited was longtime pollster and wordsmith Frank Luntz, credited with, among other things, persuading the Bush administration to say “climate change” rather than global warming, popularizing the term “death tax” for estate taxes, and advising the Trump administration to use the term “border security.”
But, at least when it comes to climate change, he has come around. As Kate Yoder recounts in Grist, Luntz had a come-to-Jesus moment on climate change when he was forced to evacuate his Los Angeles home in the face of the Skirball Fire in 2017.
“I’m here before you to say that I was wrong in 2001,” Luntz testified. “Just stop using something that I wrote 18 years ago, because it’s not accurate today. That was a lifetime ago. I’ve changed.”
