@CocoChanelle-1 Some require it. The Toyota 2B - aluminum V8 - will die if you don't. Maybe every 4 years, not 2.

Why are non owners upset? Toyota was literally the last man standing. ALL of the other car makers have proven that they can't be trusted to make a good, reliable car that can't be easily stolen for a fair price. A truck that isn't a swollen monstrosity. I can see in the background that the latter is not true.

So, the aluminum V8 - 2B? - was a problem. Now the V6. Stick to an I4 with Toyota.

6 MINS - BASIC CAR - Would I buy it? Yes dang it. 100% A/C auto, power steering & brakes. Manual windows, plug for a thumb drive for music. SMALL pickup would be nice. Used to have a 94 Chevy. Wish I still did. Would if not for a thief.

Often, the cool down will take care of itself, rational city driving for example. But I can see this if the parking lot was near a high speed road.

As a general rule, go to dealers for recalls ONLY. They don't call the stealerships for no reason.

Production cars, yes, they will have an intercooler. But you can often do without, at least with superchargers, if you run E85. Methanol even better, but it's not easily available. Might need to run a carburetor instead of fuel injection to give the fuel time to evaporate.

99.9% of the time, a 10,000 mile oil change is a very bad idea. The 0.1% allows them to advertise the 10,000 mile interval.

Sometimes thy don't change the part #. GM had a failure that was killing people - faulty ignition switch. They fixed it without changing the part #. Cost them 35 million in fines.

Might need upgraded parts with a turbo. Better exhaust valves, high flow mufflers are both good.

I drive very little, change once a year, 2 or 3 thousand. Does not burn any oil. Hyundai Accent. I live in SE, cold weather is not a problem. I can leave it in driveway while it is below freezing. Also allows me to avoid salt.

With older NA engines, there was a LOT of room to increase power. Not so now, as he says clearly. There seems to be a connection between longevity and how close you push them to their limit. If you are pushing an engine TOO hard properly, it gets expensive, even without failure. Sequential multiport injection, 8 oxygen sensors, who knows what else. 12 oxygen sensors if you need to pass emissions.
