  1. hijackings back then was used to get ransom or political demands. passengers didn't try to fight much in 9/11 because there was no precedent of a suicide hijacking before, only United 93 did because they took off 42 minutes later than planned and knew about the tower attacks while on the air and figured they be dead regardless so they fought the hijackers to the bitter end.
