@UnclePutte yeah, I know people make their own AR-15s. Sad we'll likely not see a new personal gun design in our lifetime because the media demonizing guns. There is so much potential in electronic caseless cartridge guns that use electricity to fire the projectiles directly without any gun powder involved. The electronics could also authenticate with retina print, much more accurate than fingerprints and works with gloves and masks too.

@UnclePutte true, but being able to sell it to the masses makes it easier to get top talent, proper machining tools and produce something with proper quality control. Ian showed us how unsafe many of those "home made" guns can be. most of the design goes into ensuring safety and reliability rather than coming up with the basic idea of the firearm.
