Who will define what "normal" state of the mind is? Will they ask permission when they feel like changing that definition?

@monkeystealhead That'll open the door for abuse by actvist psychologists and the government imposing its own standards. Not to mention incompetent psychologist and the fact that in general they're in massive shortage and very expensive even now.

@monkeystealhead In Germany you still have privacy rules. In the US psychologists make you sign a document saying they're free to contact and share whatever with law enforcement if they feel you'll do something they deem dangerous. In essence, they're the long arm of law enforcement.

@monkeystealhead You'll have psychologists who'll approve almost everyone and others who'll deny almost everyone. It's impossible to guarantee fairness that way. Yes, I much rather the bad guy be paranoid he'll stumble into someone armed and think twice before daring to do anything bad.

@monkeystealhead Driving tests are more or less standard and you're allowed to retry with a different instructor. I agree, arguing won't change anyone's mind here.
