  1. HVDC would make sense for sure, but also DC powering variable motor for refrigeration and HVAC / AC or other motor devices are very useful. For variable speed motor / compressor they typically convert AC to DC and then back to a different frequency AC anyways, so if you have DC to begin with it may be more efficient.
