  2. Because cooking the book is the key to survival. If you sell it at market price then the book is no longer cooked and suddenly people realize nothing is worth what you say it is.

  3.  @ChiliHorse27  they are used as collateral with speculative value for a loan, as soon as it is sold they need to pay back the debt.
