  1. To me the point of index fund is not about diversification but to reduce cost. Assuming a healthy and mature market, all non speculation investment has all the information priced in, and any picking would be a gamble assuming that a monkey can do the same job over 50 years. The only real way to increase return is to reduce cost, which means reduce management cost, by using index you don't need to hire people to sell you or to search for what to buy.
