  1. The way some of the design Apple did, was they trade off different aspect of one component to make the other better (i.e. the switching frequency of a PMIC so it doesn't resonate the capacitor and cause human audible ring on the speaker or the touch screen). Of course this is not the right thing to do but they do everything to make the aesthetic of the product good (thin, beautiful, quiet, etc) and there is a reason why more common brands don't do this. The solution is really to not use Apple's product if possible, and if not possible buy something easier to repair or wait for the Chinese to come up with some innovative ways around it. Non genuine parts is fine if they reverse engineered an alternative (like OWC), with 3rd party design and parts. Many of their custom chips are really just custom to make them cooler / more power friendly and someone can get a common design and hack it in with some minor trade off (i.e. runs hotter, need a different device drivers, etc).

  2. For fuck's sake, Apple's "reuse and repair" approach cost more than throwing away the parts and get a new one. Seriously people will try to do that right? 30:54 is golden.
