  1. China never got out of the Cold War readiness mentality, and stockpiling accelerated during Trump's trade war. They the guy who leveling up in the background when the top players are busy raiding each other. However, this "China has food to save us" analogy won't stick as 1) they are also a net food importer so they can't give them away for long term as influence and 2) if food matters that much they would have been pro USSR or Russia a long time ago.
