Nobody dies of eating non vegetarian food. More important is to mark allergens like nuts and eggs as this can be fatal.

@wondertraveller9928 French fries are generally made with Beef dripping.

All countries have good food and are proud of their food.

They don't blindly follow what is written in books.

@wondertraveller9928 Nobody forces people to change eating habits except for religious countries like Pakistan and India. Priority is food labelling for allergens as people die consuming food with allergens.

Atreyee Do not generalise for hindus. Hindus in Kerala eat Beef. There is no mandatory or legal requirement to mark Allergens on Indian food, but mandatory to mark Veg and Non veg. Clear indication of mixed up priorities. There are also Vegans who are much more common than vegetarians in west and there is no mandatory marking for them too.

@wondertraveller9928 I am more worried about people losing life than not being able to follow religious ideologies. So the priority should be on labelling food with Allergens. No issue with giving people information on the food if it is Vegan, Vegetarian or Non veg. Took it up as you mentioned India has labelling for veg and Non veg but no Mandatory labelling for Allergens.

Atreyee 95% of hindus in Kerala eat Beef. but that is not the point. Presence of allergens can be fatal and many people die due to this. However has not heard about any Jew or Muslim dying by eating Non Kosher or Non Halal or have not seen any Vegetartians dying due to eating Non vegetarian food. Have seen many vegetarians eating chips fried in Beef dripping and enjoying it without issues not knowing it. Health concerns should override faith.

@TTTT-gx7zt First priority should be to label allergens and not non veg or veg. If you are suspicious do not buy food from outside. Being vegetarian is a religious belief in India atleast. How many Christians or Muslims in India are vegetarian? And who the hell are you to instruct other countries to label veg and non veg. Stay in India if you are not happy with their labelling.
1
@TTTT-gx7zt Mentioning Veg and Non veg is to satisfy religious idiots. Mentioning Allergens is to save lives. You have no clue about allergy and more intersted in protecting faith than human life. Nobody dies of eating Non veg food, people die consuming food with nuts and eggs.

Atreyee Yes. Few BJP members picked it up initially, but stopped it as soon as they realised that the lady is Christian.

@TTTT-gx7zt India does not keep data on death is not my problem. Many people in west die due to eating foods with allergens and hence we label for allergens. Nobody here dies of eating Non vegetarian food so labelling is obligatory.
1
@TTTT-gx7zt You have no clue about nut allergy and people dying of it. You are more worried about veg and non veg. It is not a personal choice or a matter of faith but life and death. I know when you do not have arguments adhominem is the best resort.
1
Atreyee I don't think adhominem is the way to go. I am not against marking food as Veg/ Non veg/ Vegan. All I am saying is that it should be Mandatory to mark food with allergens and a country that does not mark allergens but mark veg and non veg but no labelling of Vegan is not a good example to be followed. To be clear, all countries should follow labelling which includes allergens, Veg/Non Veg/ Vegan/ Halal/Kosher that everybody can make an informed choice.

@hmvollbanane1259 I agree 100%. The food labelling rules should be relevant for the local inhabitants and what how they wish the food to be labelled. Have seen many shopkeepers in India not selling eggs as it is against their religious faith.
