@nerdydeep5955 Pakistan and Afghanistan did better than India that way. There per capita deaths even less than India. India on average has currently less than 10,000 cases daily, but deaths at 300. Who will believe that when the cases were 1 million, India was reporting only 1000 deaths.

@sumbajumba3037 How are you claiming that India did better, based on reported cases and deaths. If we go by the data provided by governments, Pakistan and Afghanistan is far better than India. None of the so called ventilators came into use during the second wave. It is the responsibility of the government to keep an eye on the health Infrastructure and control the spread. Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh do not have Hindutva terrorists also. It is so Ironic that a communist state in India has the best health Infrastructure and the most transparent data.

Current cases in the last few weeks are below 10,000 while the death figures hover around 300. While India was reporting 400,000 cases daily, it was still reporting only 1500 deaths. Do you think Indians have special resistance to Covid? Actual death figures in India due to Covid is 3-4 million, while the govt still claims a figure less than half a million.

@nishantkhanal665 Indian case figures were heavily underreported just as china did. There may be some under reporting in other countries too, but not any where close to India and China. Delta variant was not even isolated by Indian scientists. No other PM went maskless and allowed large gatherings like India did. No other PM went about boasting, calling themselves Vaccine Guru and having Conquered Covid and west should learn from India etc..

@drvipinmadhukuttan9524 UK knowing about Omicron bought them enough time for giving Boosters to over 50% of population. You should know that the primary objective of a vaccine is to protect you from serious illness than preventing it. India had neither vaccinated people nor was able to identify the Delta variant unlike south Africa. Also Delta doubling time was much slower and countries could have got more time to prepare. The success is not in preventing spread, but ensuring that the spread does not overwhelm the health Infrastructure. UK has done pretty well at that, the NHS capacity is not full .

@drvipinmadhukuttan9524 I have been living in UK for the last 20 years and have many health professionals in my friends circle. During delta, the NHS was overwhelmed, but nothing like what was seen in many parts of India. As soon as the government knew that there would be too much pressure on NHS, they took enough steps to reduce the spread. I donot see commited groups of Antivaxers, like we see in UK and US in India. Initial data suggests that Omicron leads to less hospital admissions and less mortality. However so far the spread has been only amongst the young and also most people are vaccinated and boosted.
