@moviesenthil 40% of Indians do not have access to safe drinking water.

@geometrychkrdhr3287 India is 101 on hunger Index is all what the world knows.

@moviesenthil Nobody cares for the cleanliness of water when they do not have food and are 101 on hunger Index. India does not have capability to set a standard for safe nor have the capability to measure it. The only capability Indians have is to claim that all of this was in Vedas.

@MrPoornakumar What has this to do with China? Do you think everybody who criticises Wion is Chinese? Ask ISRO why they are partnering with chinese, while we are banning China in the west.

Even 10 Billion can't save Wion. Just a plan to set up semiconductor factory will save world economy?

@moviesenthil What has one olympic gold medallist got to do with scarcity of water in India?

@MrPoornakumar When you criticise a country, it is not criticism of its people, but the criticism of its government and its political leaders and the priority they give to people's needs. Lack of safe drinking water is due to lack of proper governance and not due to the people of India.

@kalgandikota7752 You need leadership to change people. The society will not change on its own, but need leaders that can change the society. It is not super computers or access to super computers, that is going to change the life of the people of India, but better education, healthcare, Infrastructure etc. Manufacturing computer chips is not going to make India a knowledge based economy, but education and equal rights and change in society are more important in making a country knowledge based. An education system that is balanced and gives equal importance to all sciences and all arts and opportunities for people are most important. Also development of a society is not 10% of them having access to everything in the world, but the bottom 10% being able to live a decent life without fear or insecurity. A leader with the vision to create such a society is most important for that change to occur.

@kalgandikota7752 I agree to most of your points except following the chinese model or the American Model. There can be no knowledge without being able to freely express and transmit it or use of knowledge where only the rich and powerful can avail it. I would rather look at a European model, where, it does not matter being a super power as long as you have an equitable society. More important than increasing the number of IITs etc is to focus on accesibility to education to people who have very little access to education. Also you do not need super computers to do research even in most areas of science like mathematics, physics etc. Unfortunately, India does not give enough importance to Academics and fails to attract the best and brightest into Academics and unless it can attract the best into academics, more universities will not help.

@kalgandikota7752 Research in mathematics and physics in most areas including the most advanced , does not always need super computers. I have sound understanding of the research undertaken in these areas by the top universities of U.K and know that they never use super computers or needed access to them. Most of the progress in the world has been achieved through inventions that are not patented (eg: internet, AZ vaccine). Focusing on patents and intellectual property may not be the right way to the path of development. It may suit a developed country like U.S. In Europe , it is not because of these universities that people have better quality of life, but due to the government intervention to ensure equity and quality of life. You do not need better universities to improve malnutrition, infant mortality, proper health care etc. However I agree with your overall sentiment that universities in India are neglected and not supported by the governments. Also the latest trend is to push pseudo science as science into universities.

@kalgandikota7752 Man landed in moon without super computers and the Apollo computers had less processing power than today's mobile phones. Availability of funds will not change the malnutrition and infant mortality and health care. Most middle eastern countries have enough funds, but will be low on HDI Index. America is rich, but the health care system sucks. It is not because they spend more, but they spend more percentage of their budget on health care and education. Also most of the budgets including those of US are in deficit. I live in the UK and have family members doing reserach at UK universities and is certain that they do not use super computers. Europe does not focus as much on intellectual properties and copyrights as it is evident from the AZ vaccine and internet not being patented. There are many companies, who are moving away from patents (eg: Tesla). Most of the unicorns do not use patent, but use open technology available in the market

@kalgandikota7752 ARM is not owned by government or their research funded by govt and the govt has no right on what is owned essentially by pension funds and investors. We are discussing about governments role in enhancing people's life and not about how individuals or a group of individuals behave. AZ has given out free licensing to all manufacturers for what mattered. Oxford Uni could have patented it.
