Because they're adult sized children that want to play life on easy mode, and never take any kind of responsibility for their actions. Except the good stuff, they want all the good stuff, all of it. But no bad stuff.

That's actually a popular opinion among regular people that know how to think, it's only unpopular with progressives.
2
If you can't pay off student loans, then you made a poor investment, in yourself. That's not someone else's fault or responsibility.
2
@nathanhaines1721 what wand? Where does the money come from? And who is going to continue to grant student loans if they can just be waved away by a magic wand? All you would be doing is watering down what it means to even have a college degree, you'll be turning them into magic decoder rings that you could get from a cereal box 30 years ago.
2
@MrLoonytoon1024 congratulations, that's the same argument normal people have been making against M4A, it's not my responsibility to pay for someone who shovels 30 cheeseburgers into their pie hole for lunch, and it's not your responsibility to pay for me if I choose not to get vaccinated.
1
@doctorthirteen5727 how can you be racist against progressives? Is progressive a race now? Jesus you people are insane.
1
So you made a poor decision in getting a degree that hasn't gotten you a job that can pay off the debt, and then you made another poor decision in voting for a President that was obviously making an empty promise to con you into voting for him. And you still haven't figured out that the problem is you.
1
@Chazreal hey it's not someone else's fault if you made a poor investment in yourself.
1
@Chazreal how am I full of shit just because I have a different opinion from you? If you're taking the "financial drain" angle, how likely do you think someone who takes out a loan they can't pay back and then cries about how someone else should have to pay it is to be responsible with the free lunch they're given and make good decisions with that money now? They made poor decisions in the first place, to get themselves into that situation.
1
@MIKAEL S1 it's not a narrow, or negative view, it's a sensible and correct view.
1
@MIKAEL S1 why is every progressive "policy" just "gimme gimme gimme"? You people are drain on society, all you do is take and then you complain about how you should be able to take more. It's unbelievable how you can be so entitled and have absolutely zero self awareness.
1
@MIKAEL S1 because I don't think giving people free shit really solves anything in the long run, and I'm placing blame where it belongs - on the individual responsible for their own poor decisions. You know, like an adult. I'm responsible for my mistakes too, I'm not a child like you progressives are, I'm not just casting blame in any random direction to divert it away from myself, I'm saying that I'm responsible for my mistakes and you're responsible for yours. It's a pretty damn simple concept.
1
@MIKAEL S1 I don't care who's pockets it comes out of, it's not right. Nobody owes you anything because they have more than you, I doubt you feel like you owe something to people who have less than you. And you can give them stuff if you want to, but you shouldn't be forced by law to do so, just like the person who has more than you shouldn't be forced to give anything to you.
1
@MIKAEL S1 passing legislation to wipe away student debt is forcing people to give free handouts to other people. That's pretty damn straight forward, it's about as straight forward as a government mandated handout can possibly get, if you don't understand that I don't know how to explain it more simply than that.
1
@MIKAEL S1 and how exactly do you think giving money to people who can't even figure out how to get a job with a college degree is going to help the entire country? If anything letting them live with their poor decisions will help the country in the long run, at least they can teach their kids from their own failures, I know that sounds harsh but that's how life works. That's part of parenting. "Hey dummy, don't be a dummy like me" is a very important thing for parents to teach their kids, we want them to make better decisions than we did, right? What message is that gonna send when parents are teaching their kids "oh yea don't worry about it. No matter how big of a mistake you make, you'll never have to take responsibility because you can just stamp your feet and demand someone else takes responsibility".
1
@MIKAEL S1 it would allow them to, but what makes you so sure they would? Again, these are people who went to college, probably at a major university, got a degree, and can't figure out how to get a job that can pay off a couple thousand dollars over the span of a decade. They're not exactly winners.
1
@MIKAEL S1 you're quite literally suggesting that the government should be forced to make an investment in people who (100% of which) already made a poor investment in themselves. It's big brain time.
1
@MIKAEL S1 and they willfully took out those loans. Now you're suggesting they just get a do-over. Sure. It'll be better this time, because..... Reasons. But, you probably also are a socialist. So trying bad ideas over and over again actually checks out.
1
@MIKAEL S1 I do. You're just enabling people to continue to make poor decisions. Where does it stop? What if in 5 years the same people are still broke? Do we just give them another bailout? And I guarantee people like you will still be demanding more free handouts, no matter how many times you try and how many times it fails.
1
@MIKAEL S1 I'm only negative towards bottom feeders, one way or another you're going to get a cruel slap in the face by reality. But it's not my problem, keep being miserable and blaming the world for your self induced problems. Be my guest. It's entertaining.
1
@MIKAEL S1 and it's "couldn't care less". Could care less means nothing, that means you could also care more. But I wouldn't expect a leftist to understand what words mean, otherwise you wouldn't be a leftist.
1
@MIKAEL S1 except I'm not the one begging for a free handout.
1
@derrickwolters8694 how about we just stop paying a small fortune to send our kids off to be spoiled, brain dead communists, and then complain about how someone else should have to pay back the money they flushed down the toilet? That's an idea too.
1
@derrickwolters8694 and I'm pretty sure the people who invent tech don't need a bail out for their student loans.
1
@nathanhaines1721 yea I think that sounds fair too. But we can't just wave a magic wand and tell people they don't actually owe money that they owe. I also think we need better education in finances in primary school, it's not that I like predatory loan companies taking advantage of naive young people going into college, I just don't think the solution is to give people real life do-overs with taking out large sums of money.
