He was a martial artist that competed for next to nothing, with mediocre success, became an actor, and comedian, later a commentator for an MMA organization that was dying at the time, because the entire sport was dying, but it got resurrected, due in no small part to his influence due to his mainstream success in the former mentioned ventures in his career, and now he has the most popular podcast in the world.

@Miniature Mash-Up I looked up the law, you can look it up yourself. It basically states that all Australians are held to the same food safety standards as a restaurant in the US. Which sounds good on the surface, I'm all about food safety, everyone should have at least a novice understanding of food safety. But anyone who's worked in a restaurant knows that's a pain in the ass, and more about pencil pushing than actually serving safe and quality food, in fact there are often contradictions where you have to serve food you aren't sure is safe in order to check all the boxes by beaurocratic food safety suits. The idea of that on a private level is dystopian as fuck, that basically means I can't give my kid a tomato from my own private garden unless I get it checked off and verified from the state. If you don't think the state will abuse that power, you're a damn fool.

@rve420 have you ever heard anyone refer to him as "the guy from News Radio"? UFC is what really launched him into the mainstream, and if he hadn't been on News Radio it likely would have been exactly the same. Jim Brown was an announcer for the early UFCs ffs, he was just a random football player that had a notable name. If it wasn't Joe it likely would have been Bas Rutten, which would have been fine by me because I actually like Bas more than Joe, but I wouldn't wish this evil of being cast into politics on Bas, he's a fucking dutch angel and you leftist monsters can't taint him, he'll fucking head kick each and every one of you into the netherealm. It's better that it's Joe.

@Matt Vinci Joe was a national champ in karate, that's hardly "mediocre talent". Leave it to a leftist to have no respect whatsoever for talent, because you just want to have the whole world handed to you. Unfortunately he's a pretty tiny dude, there really wasn't a platform for smaller weight classes in those days because there wasn't really a platform for martial arts in general. I fucking love MMA, it's the most beautiful sport we have, and I would exist without Joe Rogan, the wheels were already turning. But he still had a massively influential role in actually turning those wheels. I don't care if you don't like his politics. And his politics are incredibly mild.
2
This is just sad. But the life of a leftist had always been sad. But also funny.
2
@Haroog just look up "Australian private farming laws". It's not hard. You should definitely already know this if you're an Australian that grows your own food.
2
If you want to shit on rich people because you suck at life, fine, I know leftist aren't real people, but to pretend like Joe Rogan has no merit is even more delusional than thinking you should get $16 an hour for making a fancy coffee at Starbucks every 30 minutes while you complain about capitalism for the other 29. You people aren't well.

@rve420 Rogan was commentating for the UFC for quite some time before his podcast. You can make the argument he wouldn't have been famous without News Radio if you want, but that's just speculation, and also pretty goofy since as I pointed out, the previous commentator was Jim Brown. They were probably just looking for "random guy that's done martial arts stuff and also TV or movie stuff, even commerical stuff if that's available". Joe Rogan was a martial arts champion and an actor, even if he didn't land the News Radio gig, he was still doing standup comedy at that time, it's almost certain he would have landed some kind of gig on a show or movie.
1
@rve420 also worth noting, Rogan began commentating for UFC in '02, Bas Rutten started with Pride in '05. So even granting your obvious bias against Rogan due to your status in a political cult, he was the first accomplished martial artist to commentate on a legitimate martial arts organization, Bas came later. And I fucking love Bas, he's one of the greatest dudes that's ever lived, even Joe Rogan says so, he totally geeked out when Bas was on his podcast. Your attempt to discredit Joe Rogan has been shot down in every possible way.
1
@rve420 he wasn't a random nobody though, he was a karate and tae Kwon do champion.
1
@ClosingBook so basically, your argument is that Joe isn't that talented because he's talented in enough things that he eventually got famous because of his talent. Because he's not talented. That's your actual argument. Go sit down and think about that.
1
@ClosingBook name as many martial arts champions that have actually landed movie or TV roles as you can then. Go ahead. I'll even give you a couple, Dolph Lundgren and Wesley Snipes, yep, that's right. Name a few more.
1
@rve420 and GSP was a well accomplished martial artist before he ever did any acting gigs, and he was fucking horrible at every acting gig he ever had. And I love GSP, he's the best that's ever lived, at martial arts, but he's a terrible actor. He could never have a huge podcast like Rogan, because it would be awful. Rogan has the biggest podcast in the world.
1
@rve420 you're accidentally in a cult. That's the only reason you would try to pretend like the guy with the biggest podcast in the world hadn't done anything. Take a step back, look in the mirror. At least some people who are in cults know that they're in a cult. You don't really want to be that stupid.
1
@soulknife20 and before that you were like "oh, Jim Brown, that makes sense"?
1
@rve420 the distinction you're forgetting here is that MMA as it exists now has only existed for 30 years. Before that, "martial artists" usually just competed in Karate, Tae Kwon Do, kickboxing, or something like that. It was exceedingly rare for someone to do well in that world and translate that over to Hollywood, even more rare to do both well. And as I said before, GSP sucks as an actor. I don't want that to be true, because I love the guy, but let's be real, he sucks as an actor.
1
@ClosingBook so why doesn't anyone pay to listen to you talk? Because they just haven't discovered your talents yet?
1
@danielsonn3046 leftists are so anti-work, they don't even understand what work is on a conceptual level.
1
@jshowa o lmao, got it, so people don't pay to listen to you talk because you're just too smart🤣🤣 goddamn you lunatics are something else.
1
Leftists aren't smart enough to understand what honesty is.
1
Rogan isn't wrong. Communists should love him, if there was such a thing as a communist that had principles. He's talking about rolling back to where the people all hold a stake in production, that's what communists claim they want.
1
Is he wrong though? I'm genuinely curious.
1
@jb6668 that's interesting. Because this left wing link that's probably going to get deleted says that the claim that Australian's can't grow their own food is false but it's actually kinda true, but it's fine, because it's fake, but it's not fake, but this is why it isn't bad.
1
@deviouskris3012 you're incorrect, check your laws more closely. The Australian government is well within their rights to check out your chicken's buttholes, and I know that sounds ridiculous, and it probably is, you probably don't even have chickens, but if you have opinions your government doesn't like, they're going to find a butthole somewhere and decide you're not doing the state sponsored activity to said butthole.
1
@missmarthafawker notice how none of you are actually clearly stating what the law says, you're just giving your own subjective opinions about what you think the law will be interpreted as. Facts are facts, if the Australian government wants to shut down your own private crops, they can do it.
1
@kagakai7729 right, because one guy on the internet hasn't been effected by it means nobody has. Bulletproof logic.
1
@kennybowens4983 Rogan is the same dude he always was, that's why MMA ran past him and why politics stayed behind him. The left has lost its goddamn mind, anyone who doesn't see that its part of the hive mind.
