If social media is harmful to your mental health, then yes, you should absolutely get off, but that's only step one. Then you need to evaluate further and see if you can determine the underlying cause of what makes social media so harmful to your mental health in the first place. It's just words, from strangers on the internet. Life gets harder than that.

@TheEclecticDyslexic ok, totally missed my point. Why do you think some people use social media and are completely fine, and other people aren't? Of some stranger on the internet saying words you don't like puts you in some mental health crisis, you probably didn't start from a very strong point of mental health. That was my point. I was pretty clear about it the first time.

@ananthropomorphictalkinggo6641 could be that the US consumes 75% of the world's pharmacuedicals too. That might be a factor. But sure, it's social media. Nothing abnormal at all about people having mental breakdowns because of words on the internet. Totally normal.

@TheEclecticDyslexic so the problem isn't that gambling exists, it's that some people can't control the way they react to it. Likewise with social media, or drugs or porn or any number of other things. And once the cat is out of the bag you can't really put it back in, when things exist that certain people can't handle or use responsibly, any attempt to outlaw them just creates new problems. Even if you could get rid of them all together, or mostly, it wouldn't be fair to the people who can handle it responsibly. Assuming it's something that's not inherently harmful to everyone, always. And I don't think social media is.

That's why I don't want anyone to be silenced or suppressed on the internet, I'm not threatened by your ideas. Your ideas are fucking stupid, so stupid, normal people just laugh at them. The Elon hate is proof positive that the left only cares about politics. They say they care about "making a better world" and all the other empty mantras, but they really only care about claiming political dominance. If your idea of "a better world" is so closed off to any other ideas besides your own that you demonize someone because of a political alignment, then your goal isn't creating a better world.
