Sorta. They can get compensated through contracts and endorsements, but they don't get a salary the same way pro players do.

People just don't care about women's sports as much as men's. Screech about misogyny all you want, but you're claiming most women are misogynists too, because the WNBA would be popular if women cared about women's sports.
8
@drewopal9283 just because men are better at sports doesn't mean they're better on a human level. Men and women aren't better or worse than each other, we're just different. Stop asserting opinions for other people, it's dishonest.
3
@j0j0dartiste21 the one that's more popular? Lmao, what a stupid question. Let me guess, you think the lower league would be just as popular if they just promoted it more?🤣
3
@tizodd6 these people have constructed an entirely fictional reality that they choose to live in. They think there's some dastardly man in a suit deciding what to promote, according to his own whims. They're too stupid to understand that things that sell a lot tend to be promoted more. Not some grand conspiracy against women. It's just money. And most women's sports get an artificial boost, and still don't compete with men's in popularity. I would love to see the ratio of WNBA ads, compared to their profits, compared to the NBA. I guarantee there's a disproportionate amount of money spend promoting the women.
3
@phoebemoon6952 and some of the coaches make even more than their NFL counterparts.
3
@monopolizedopamine soccer isn't as popular because we play so many other sports. Most of the countries where soccer is more popular only play one or 2 other sports prominently. Of course promotion has some impact on popularity, but you're confusing the chicken with the egg. More popular things get promoted more. If people don't care about a sport, or a specific league, it doesn't matter how much you promote, it's just never going to be as popular.

I don't care about women's sports, but I still think they should be exclusive to women. That's the entire point of women's sports. Trans athletes can compete with men, nobody is trying to stop them. But they can't compete with women for the same reason 13 year olds can't compete with lower age groups, and heavyweight fighters can't fight at lower weight classes. Because it's not fair. It's not "anti trans" anymore than age restrictions are "anti age" or weight restrictions are "anti weight". It's complete nonsense. Sports have rules and restrictions for a reason.
2
@Echo81Rumple83 that's fair, if you don't care about sports, you don't have to. But a lot of people do.
2
@Aarenby that's a loaded question, of course I'm against coaches crossing the line into outright abuse, but my idea of what that means is probably vastly different from yours. Sports are supposed to be hard, if you think a hard coach is "abusive", then sports aren't for you. The best athletes push themselves harder than any coach could, even if they tried.
2
@Joeyw-2203 it's not that bad, it depends on what position you play, how competitive the level you're playing at is, how many games you play, and a whole host of other options. Most NFL players do not have CTE though, it's definitely not a "near certainty".
2
@Echo81Rumple83 why do you think major league baseball is so much more popular than minor league? Real question. You can't say "misogyny" and avoid actually addressing it, because they're all men.
1
@tizodd6 leftists don't believe in supply and demand though, they think they can just wave a magic wand and make people spend money however they want them to.
1
@tizodd6 I've asked in a few of these threads why the lefties think major league baseball is so much more profitable than minor league baseball (the obvious answer to anyone with a brain is the major leaguers are better, people are always going to prefer to watch the best athletes play). But the only numbnuts that even responded to me asked which one is promoted more🤣🤣🤣🤣 these people are so stupid, they genuinely think the minor league baseball would be as popular as major league, if they just promoted more🤣
1
@drewopal9283 in what sport do we just pluck random people who don't play competitively to compete with trained professionals?
1
@monopolizedopamine because the competition in the NCAA is at a very high level, a lot of those athletes are only there because they're going to school, and are already at a professional level.
1
@monopolizedopamine minor leaguers are in the minors because they're not ready for the majors yet. College players are in college because they're getting an education. There's a big difference.
1
@monopolizedopamine the WNBA is heavily subsidized by the NBA, and they still don't turn a profit. It would literally no longer exist if they weren't floated by the more popular men's league. The women's national soccer team makes significantly less revenue than the men, despite being far more successful on an international stage. Just stop, you're embarrassing yourself. There is no reality where people will want to watch women's sports more, or even as much as men. It just isn't real. And there's nothing wrong with that, it doesn't mean men are superior as human beings, it just means they're better at sports. Men and women are different.
1
@IAmNumber4000 no, the reasonable thing to do is to leave women's sports exclusively for women, the way it's always been.
1
I was at a bar a few years ago, and there was a WNBA playoff game on one of the TVs. No joke, I thought it was a local community college or something when I first glanced at it, there was like 100 fans in the bleachers, total🤣🤣🤣 I looked at the scoreboard and it had the abbreviated cities, and posted the series score, like 2 games to 1 or whatever, I'm like oh dammmmn this is a WNBA playoff game🤣
1
@courtneyisaseagull why do you think minor league baseball has such lower attendance and fan fare than major league baseball? Real question. I want you to explain to me why major league is more popular than minor league.
1
@hirampriggott1689 if there was enough demand for it, it would still be a thing. There is not. There isn't even enough demand for the WNBA to exist on its own, they're heavily subsidized by the NBA.
1
@revivedfears we don't like women's sports for the same reason we don't like amateur or minor league sports. Because the players aren't as good. That's not misogyny, it's observation. I don't have any personal problem with minor league baseball players, I don't hate them, I just don't care to watch them as much as major leaguers, because they're not as good. It's really that simple. You lefties spend your whole lives looking for bigotry, its so exhausting. It's because you can't actually engage in arguments, because you don't know anything. You would rather just call everyone a bigot and pat yourself on the back, because it's easier.
1
@j0j0dartiste21 you don't understand anything about complexity, you don't understand anything about sports, you don't understand anything about anything. You're blindly led by political tribalism. You live in an alternate reality that doesn't exist.
1
@@jshowao-rw1dh and they don't have as much advertisement because nobody cares. It's a bad investment to promote a product people don't like. I bet you also think minor league baseball would be just as popular as major league if they just promoted more, right?🤣🤣🤣 no, numbnuts, major league baseball is more popular because they're better than minor leaguers.
1
People think women are less strong and athletic because women are less strong and athletic.
1
I know, it's pretty mind blowing. And people who care about sports, and follow sports aren't the ones gatekeeping, we're just saying there should be a fair criteria for people to participate, like age groups, weight classes, and women only in women's sports.
1
@FrozEnbyWolf150 I defend women's sports in the sense that they should have the right to play if they want to play. But I don't really care as a fan, for the most part. It's not my problem to make sure they do well, that's up to them.
1
@nutmeg76 I love how all you lefties are shrieking misogyny, but none of you are actually backing any of your arguments. You don't even have arguments.
1
@Aarenby what in the hell are you talking about? Because I haven't explicitly said that I'm against something completely unrelated to the video, you just assert that I support it? Lmao, by that same idiotic logic, you're pro slavery, because you haven't said you're against it🤣🤣🤣 you're also pro cancer. Why do you want all the kids to die from cancer?
1
@Joeyw-2203 no, it's really not. In fact you're highly unlikely to get a concussion from a single tackle, concussions generally happen due to repeated blows. It's not the one big tackle, it's 5 or 6 big tackles in a game and no time to recover in between. You obviously have absolutely zero idea what you're talking about.
1
@Joeyw-2203 and you can usually have a concussion without any serious long term effects, as long as it's not a severe concussion. It's repeated concussions, without proper recovery time that cause long term effects. That's why football teams only play one game a week, as opposed to basketball and baseball that play much more frequently.
