  1. Ummmm, yea, that's why the US is a constitutional republic, not a direct democracy. States operate as their own sovereign governments, under a larger government that was never intended to have even the federal power that it has today.

Here's what has me scratching my head, the modern left likes to call themselves "progressive", and yet here you are arguing for a more direct democracy than what we have, maybe not the most literal sense of the term, but you all seem to be against the electoral college and many other systems we have in place to ensure we don't live by mob rule - so how in the hell do you expect progressive policies within a majority rule system? We couldn't have abolished slavery, or segregation, or numerous other outdated institutions if we just went by majority rule. These ideas were not popular for many years before they started getting more support.
