  3. Can be, it just needs to be supplemented with other arts. Big problem a lot of fighters with extensive karate backgrounds have in MMA is taking strikes, which sounds odd because karate is a primarily striking style, but in competition it's point fighting, you land a shot, you get a point, you reset. They're not used to having a big right hand coming right back at them after landing a kick. Doesn't mean they can't adjust, but a lot of times it's hard for them, it's not like fighters with a boxing or kickboxing background, that's continuous, you land a strike you land, nothing else happens unless you knock them down or knock them out, they're coming right back at you. Those striking styles translate better to MMA usually.
