Imagine if the heavyweight champ came out as "trans weight" and said he identifies as 145lbs, and should be able to fight at featherweight even though he weighs 250lbs. See how insane that sounds? Because it is insane. All of this is insane.

And "men's" sports aren't even specific to men in most cases, there's no rule saying women can't compete in the top professional leagues. Women's leagues exist for the specific reason to allow women to play at the top level with comparable peers.

Because the only reason you would make a big deal about that is if you think there would be something wrong with choosing to be gay. @slow-adhesiveness-4933 you can always play up in sports, but you can't play down. Meaning if a 180lb fighter wants to go up to fight at heavyweight, that's fine, no problems, but a heavyweight cannot go down to fight at 180lb, because that's an unfair advantage. If a 12 year old wants to play with 13 and 14, that's fine, but a 13 year old can't play with 11 and 12.

@slow-adhesiveness-4933 and biological men have a quantifiable advantage over biological women, that's the entire reason women's sports exist in the first place. So no trans people should ever compete with women, because that's playing down, period. They have to play with men or have their own separate division.

@slow-adhesiveness-4933 and they can do that all they want in life, but specific to sports, there are rules. These rules exist for a reason, so we can eliminate as much unfair advantages as possible, so we're left with only fair advantages, like skill and strategy.

@andromidius being equally valid as a person isn't the same as being equal in sports. Sports aren't real life, they're not supposed to always be fair, the vast majority of people can't compete at the highest level professionally, for numerous different reasons, that doesn't mean they're not valid as a person. It just means they're not good enough or don't meet the qualifications to be a professional athlete.

@gbeaver57 that is the logical solution, and you're right that they would be at a competitive disadvantage, but that's better than allowing people to have a competitive advantage. It's the same reason there are weight classes in combat sports, age restrictions in youth sports, and steroids aren't allowed in pro sports. Sports are not meant to be "inclusive" anyone can play if they want, but if there's any kind of competitive nature to it, there has to be restrictions. It's common sense. Of course this entire debate is only about biological men competing with women, to have an unfair advantage. You don't see it going the other way, no FtM athletes are complaining that they should be able to play with men.
