Plink he was 6. Even if he was doing something to provoke the dog, it should be trained well enough to know not to react that way to a kid.

@lazcoroner1483 just make sure they get plenty of exercise and early socialization with people and other dogs. A "job" for a dog in modern context doesn't usually mean what that breed was initially bred for, it just means any kind of regular activity that gives them some kind of direction other than being an unruly monster.

That's why I like herding breeds. They're smart, they actually understand basic reasoning, they won't just attack out of the clear blue for no reason. Not for rookies though. Their brains can be bad in the wrong hands, can lead them to be destructive and form some very bad habits. But the blue heelers I've had would never hurt anyone unless they had no other choice.

The stigma against pitbulls isn't completely false, but it's also misguided and not entirely accurate. They're an extremely dangerous breed with a strong prey drive, this means they're typically more dangerous towards other animals than towards people, even a well trained and well taken care of pitbull may have a strong instinct to go after other dogs, especially smaller dogs, and even more so if they're running around or being particularly energetic around them. Sometimes they can separate play from aggression. And the other factor is the type of people who tend to be attracted to them, somehow they've become the official dog breed of people who want dogs for all the wrong reasons.

There's a very large percent of pit owners that are women, probably of the leftist persuasion if I had to guess. The type of people who are hellbent on proving every stereotype wrong. And their dogs are almost invariably horrible.
