Comments by "Mark Zuckergecko" (@markzuckergecko621) on "BREAKING NEWS: Trump to Pardon Pete Rose Posthumously" video.
Problem was Pete was still alive during Trump's first term, and he definitely would have testified on his own behalf, and he was an insufferable jackass. So every time he talked, he made people not like him. Easier to do it posthumously, that way Pete can't get in his own way.

That's why I always used a seahorse. They're considerably smaller, but at least they can swim.

Ty Cobb allegedly beat someone to death in a bar fight, and nothing happened to him bc he was famous, and everyone was scared of him. I don't think that's ever been officially confirmed, so it's sort of a rumor, but I'm inclined to believe it, because I've never really seen it thoroughly debunked, it's been said by a lot of people who were around at the time, and it's pretty consistent with his character.

@DocZoidberg549 pretty sad we lost him and Rickey Henderson within 6 months of each other. 2 of the best hitters, table setters, and base runners of all time. Rickey was the best baserunner of all time, I don't think there's any question there.

He still doesn't deserve to be in the Hall of Fame, he agreed to a lifetime ban from MLB as a plea deal to avoid potential prison time. You don't have to agree with that decision, but he made that decision.

@crazychase98 it was still pretty bad while he was managing, he could pretty easily manipulate games by throwing all his best pitchers in the same game. You wouldn't always do that in a regular season game, since there are so many games, you need to pace yourself and focus on the full season rather than a single game. But if you have money on the game...... Then you can selectively focus a little more on certain games.

Yep, Pete Rose and Rickey Henderson, 2 of the best hitters and base runners in history died within a year.

@lorinabroda3317 saying he did nothing wrong is just plain dishonest. I think that the punishment he got was a little harsh for the crimes he committed, but that's not for me to decide, he did commit crimes, that's a fact.

@jamesbolling6681 I've always thought gambling should be legal, except in public competitions where you have a direct impact on the outcome. If people want to gamble away their own money, I don't see who that's harming other than yourself, but when it comes to a situation like what Rose did, now you're messing with other people's money. That's very different.

@barleyeducated8714 he agreed to the ban to avoid prison time. You don't have to agree with the plea, I think it's a bit harsh too, but that was the deal. I guess a Presidential pardon is a sorta loophole that can nullify that, but I've long maintained that he shouldn't be in the Hall of Fame unless the plea is revoked and he serves the sentence he would have gotten.

Pretty sure people figured out how to dive head first before him. And it's generally bad fundamentals too, it's slower than sliding feet first. I was always taught that you should only dive head first going back to a base, like a pick off attempt, or occasionally at home plate, or going into 1st base, just to help avoid a tag. Almost all the time going into a base, sliding feet first is faster, safer, and makes it harder for the fielder to tag you.

Was he ever convicted of a crime? I thought he was just kept out of the Hall of Fame.
