He's not saying anyone shouldn't be allowed to say anything, he's just saying they should lose their job as a journalist. And he's right. Their job is to report the news, not encourage violence.

Losing your job as a journalist isn't a violation of free speech, he's not calling for them to be jailed, he's just saying they shouldn't be the voice that's supposedly informing the public if they're encouraging violence. And I agree.

@Mark-eh7kx Ben wasn't criticizing people just for supporting innocent Palestinians, he was criticizing people who explicitly support Hamas terrorism. You are a liar.

@DefineHatespeech I never called for silence, I just think people who want to support terrorists should do it on their own time, not while they're supposed to be reporting on news for large audiences.

Ben isn't being hypocritical, saying someone should be fired from their position in journalism isn't the same as saying legal action should be taken against them.

He's way off the mark on this one though, Shapiro isn't saying people shouldn't be allowed to voice their opinions, he's just saying they should lose their job at major media outlets if they're encouraging violence. That's a completely reasonable take. What you're allowed to say legally is completely different than what a major media outlet should tolerate their employees saying on the air. Jimmy is just being dishonest here, he knows there's a distinct difference.

@stevenhacker1347 yes, Hamas are absolutely terrorists, and no decent person should support them. That doesn't mean legal action should be taken against people just for having an opinion, but if you're a journalist, and your job is to report the news, you should absolutely lose your job if you choose to cheerlead for terrorists instead of doing your job.

@Alkindi243 yes, as laughable as it is to think of CNN as an outlet that reports news, that's still what they claim to be. If people want to cheerlead for terrorists, they can do that on their private time. It's not some kind of infringement on free speech to suggest they should be fired, you aren't entitled to a job just because you want one.
