Anything economic is where Jimmy kinda loses the plot. But I agree with him more than I disagree when it comes to social issues, and I'm libertarian/conservative too.

1. Flat tax for all citizens. 2. Police departments being uniformly held accountable to the constitution, nothing less and nothing more. 3. Private health insurance with cheap and easily available alternatives publicly funded. 4. Again, the constitution. 5. No federal ban on abortion but no public funding, and state mandated cut offs. 6. Anti war except when directly provoked. 7. Regulated trade with foreign nations at the discretion of a democratic process.

That's why I think the triangular setup of political ideology is more in depth than the traditional left/right, authoritarian/libertarian quadrants. You have liberalism at the top, communism on the bottom left, and fascism on the bottom right. Liberals valuing liberty most, communists equality and progress, and fascists tradition and authority. This gives a better illustration of the relation between the 3 extremes, traditional conservatives would be towards the top, more on the right slope than the left, since they value liberty the most but still value tradition and law and order more than progress or equality, liberals in the American sense would be the opposite, still closest to the top but along the left slope, big value on liberty but more emphasis on progress and equality than tradition and law and order. Fascists and communists actually have a lot in common, they just use authority by different means.

We can't have 3 parties. If a 3rd party ever got enough support to field a legitimate candidate, it wouldn't split the vote down the middle, it would give one side too much power. There would have to be 2 independent parties gain influence at or around the same time.

@cmack17 the right just wants lower taxes in general. The centrist position of a flat tax is not specific as far as the rate. Conservatives would want similar, a flat tax or maybe slightly progressive, but at a much lower rate.

No, that's just nonsense that far leftists tell themselves to pretend like they're not insane extremists. There's a better argument to be made for Republicans being left wing than for democrats bring right wing, if you're capable of looking at things neutrally, and not like a crazy person. But I don't think Republicans are left wing, they're pretty centrist with further left economic policies than most right wing voters would like. When one side is fine with welfare and the other wants more welfare, you can't intelligently say that they're both right wing.

@tommyanomaly6193 it's not, but most people tend to vote along party lines. And enthusiasm and voter turnout are big factors too, I understand that. But the point still remains, a 3rd party would inevitably take more votes from one party than the other.

Because leftists are bat shit insane. Regardless of your opinion or criticisms of Trump, you're right, he was very much an outsider. And outsider with knowledge of the inside, from being wealthy for so long. That's why they hate him so much and smeared him so much. He's terrifying to them. He's a loose cannon, he says what he wants, he doesn't play ball to protect the other elites.

@Jake Jortles probably closest to the communist point, only because people who support communism are the easiest to manipulate. But it's a political spectrum, it's kind of hard to accurately represent someone who only cares about money and power, regardless of what ideology they're piggybacking off of in that moment.
