@bengilkes7676 yep. Think of any hot button topic, compare the mainstream republican position and mainstream democrat position from 20 years ago. Now compare those positions to today. The Republican position hasn't changed much, in most cases it's moved a little to the left, closer to what the democrat position used to be. The Democrat position has moved astoundingly further to the left on the same topic.

@petep5207 yea they flip the fuck out. It's hilarious and terrifying at the same time. I had a coworker that was ranting about how he supported Nazis several years ago, I tried to avoid those conversations with her because her brain is a potato, she can have whatever opinion she wants, but when someone makes a claim that's demonstrably false, it's hard for me not to say something. So I pulled up the video of the full quotation, where he says "and I'm not talking about the neo Nazis, because they should be condemned, totally", and she lost her mind and got mad at me, started saying it was a fake video and all this other stuff. Absolutely insane. I can't imagine getting angry at someone for showing me proof that I was wrong about something, I can almost understand being angry just in the general sense, because I was mislead, nobody wants to be wrong and made to look like a fool, but being angry at the person simply for showing you proof of something is not what a sane, rational human being does.

@yurichtube1162 usually just some garbled nonsense about him being a racist, or a fascist. And then of course when asked to elaborate or support that claim, they'll have nothing except something something January 6th, or something something border policy.

It had to be him. For all his faults, and he has plenty, he's the exact kind of person that can do what he did, he had the money, power, and notoriety to get in that position in the first place, he knows the dirty laundry of the elites, because he's one of them, and he gives absolutely zero fucks about people thinking he's an asshole. There's a lot of things I don't like about him, but a "nice guy" could never have done what he did.

@paulbentley1705 for real, I've never been an enthusiastic, card carrying republican, I've always voted republican just because they're closer to my views than democrats. But if their platform dramatically shifted in the next 10 years to where it was nowhere close to an actual conservative platform, I would abandon them in a heartbeat. Dunno what the hell I would do, assuming in this scenario democrats are essentially the same as they are now, I'm sure as hell not gonna vote for them. Probably go independent. But I'm not a "team player" in that way, I can't wrap my head around these people that believe everything mainstream media tells them.

@toptenguy1 what's even worse is the exact same people will freely admit that mainstream media is trash, and always lies. But for some reason they believe everything bad about Trump. That's beyond just stupid, that's a mental illness. "The media lies about everything, except Trump. They're totally for real about that" is a completely insane state of mind.

It doesn't matter, his target audience is normies that watch about 15 collective minutes of "news" per week, usually just headlines on their favorite social media app or a few minutes of ABC in the morning when they're getting ready for work. They don't know any better. He could say Canada is declaring war on the moon, and most of his audience would believe it, and then forget 5 minutes later.

@hamupinhere yea that's the crazy part about the girl I was talking about too, I do like her other than that, we got along fine as long as nothing remotely political came up, she was a really nice girl, fun to talk to, we had a lot in common in other aspects of life. It's a shame how something like that can completely consume someone. I miss the days where politics wasn't so front and center in everyday life.

@thedissidentleftist6997 it wasn't mainstream back then. If Barack Obama had come out during his campaign and said riots are fine if you think you have a legitimate grievance, and kids should be allowed hormone therapy because they're confused about their gender, that would have been the death of his campaign, he would have been laughed out of politics as an insane crackpot.

@jjbees7911 my best guess about all the craze around going green within the Democrat party is that they know it will cripple domestic business, and put even more of our interests overseas. More money in their pockets because there's less accountability that way. They want the American people poor and desperate, willing to hand over more power to the government.
