Democrat voters did this, when you vote for whoever promises you the most free stuff, you're voting away your rights, and it shouldn't be a surprise when both sides of politics turn into a corrupt swamp of cronies that do whatever the highest bidder tells them to. Don't blame the politicians, they're just enjoying the power that the people gave them. Blame the people who were stupid enough to vote for it.

@hailmaryrecordings8255 universal suffrage was a mistake. I'm firmly against determining voting privileges by any kind of identity factor like sex or race, but I also think letting everyone vote just because they exist is a mistake. A lot of people are idiots, and pay attention to politics for 15 minutes once every 4 years. Those people shouldn't vote. I'm not sure how to make that determination, but every society that tries granting voting privileges to everyone will always inevitably end up the same, with big business and politicians allying together to screw over common people, who gleefully vote for it.

@hailmaryrecordings8255 I do have a few brainstorms though. The most effective I think would just be making registering to vote a huge pain in the ass. Have people fill out some legalize bullshit and have to take a survey/quiz, just really basic shit that anyone can pass, but the point of it would be to make sure you care enough about voting to deal with a huge pain in the ass. Anyone who's like nah that's annoying, I'm just not gonna vote - well they're the whole point. Those aren't well informed voters.

I get the sentiment, but when the majority of the left thinks it's ok to burn down private citizens' businesses because of some perceived injustice the media told them to be mad about, it's hard not to view them as my enemy.

@hailmaryrecordings8255 and these kind of ideas are taboo, because we've been told all our lives that saying someone shouldn't vote is the same as saying their existence is worthless, or something to that effect, but that's completely insane. I shouldn't vote for the NBA All-Star game, because I don't give a shit about basketball, and I don't know anything about basketball. And I've never voted, and don't plan on it ever. That doesn't make me less of a person, the same as if someone doesn't give a shit about politics. That's fine. But they shouldn't be pressured into voting, and nobody should be made to feel like some kind of inhumane monster because they don't think that person should vote.

Left and right makes more sense when you view it as a triangle, with the respective corners being liberalism, communism, and fascism. Anyone considered moderate left or right would fall under the broader spectrum of liberal, obviously with varying views on topics. But conservatives, liberals, and libertarians have a lot more in common with each other than any of them do with fascists or communists.

@vincentsnow8436 that's my thought process for a lot of things that people have an attitude like they should just get to do because they want to. And I don't want to pinch anyone's rights, but there's a difference between what you have the right to do and what you just get. I don't think there's very much you should get. I think we need to set up more gateways in life where people have to put forth some kind of effort to get whatever it is they want.
