  1. You need a permit for any large protest on public property. It's not typically enforced, just because the optics are so bad. Also you can't block roadways, you can't destroy property, there are plenty of legal limitations on protest, and for good reason. You have a right to protest, but you don't have a right to block the free movement of others.

  2.  @FrankSpeer66  pretty much every BLM protest/riot was illegal. They just got preferential treatment, and like I said earlier, a lot of minor violations are usually overlooked just because of the optics. If you're causing a bit of a disturbance, but nobody is hurt, and nothing major is destroyed, police probably won't bug you because the media would label them as fascist. But they would be within their rights to arrest the people causing problems.

  5. The right to protest is not absolute. You can't protest any time, anywhere, any way you want, because you may end up encroaching on the rights of others. You cannot block public roadways, you cannot create a threat or unreasonable disturbance. This isn't an encroachment on your rights, it's defending the rights of others.
