You need a permit for any large protest on public property. It's not typically enforced, just because the optics are so bad. Also you can't block roadways, you can't destroy property, there are plenty of legal limitations on protest, and for good reason. You have a right to protest, but you don't have a right to block the free movement of others.

@FrankSpeer66 pretty much every BLM protest/riot was illegal. They just got preferential treatment, and like I said earlier, a lot of minor violations are usually overlooked just because of the optics. If you're causing a bit of a disturbance, but nobody is hurt, and nothing major is destroyed, police probably won't bug you because the media would label them as fascist. But they would be within their rights to arrest the people causing problems.

@madProgenitorDeity I also love how you accidentally admitted that there were hundreds of violent riots. They're not sending their best.
7
@madProgenitorDeity 10% of thousands of protests is a lot of violence.

The right to protest is not absolute. You can't protest any time, anywhere, any way you want, because you may end up encroaching on the rights of others. You cannot block public roadways, you cannot create a threat or unreasonable disturbance. This isn't an encroachment on your rights, it's defending the rights of others.

Progressives don't know the difference.

@FalloutGenius1 because socialists always lie, about absolutely everything, with zero exceptions.
1
@theimperialist2686 most of the far left protests in recent years were breaking at least a handful of laws. Police are just hesitant to enforce the laws because of the optics.
1
@presterjohn1697 ah yes, the violent unarmed protesters that were led into a public building by police. Scary stuff.
1
@robertyoung6418 getting arrested at a protest used to be a badge of honor, it made people look like rebels and actually helped their cause. Today's protesters are so idiotic and whiny they act like getting arrested when they break the law is the same as being enslaved.
1
@ezrahamill6371 that's completely false, there are limitations to the right of assembly. Unless you consider blocking roadways or disturbing the peace to be "violent", which I'm sure you do, depending on which narrative you're trying to push. But probably not according to this narrative.
1
@williamangeles9761 probably because your cult has a history of violence.
1
@madProgenitorDeity it's also a much, much, much higher percentage than the overall police encounters that get violent, ya know, the thing you're supposed to be protesting against. So congratulations, your cure was considerably worse than the disease.
1
@CheyzBervik it was illegal, and it started a war. But we won, and it's broadly viewed as a just war. When you stick your neck out like that, you should be extra sure you're right.
1
@CheyzBervik and in those circumstances, you better be damn sure you're right, and you should also be prepared to face consequences if it doesn't go as intended.
1
Exactly, and it's done on purpose to intimidate law enforcement, they're trying to get a reaction so they can play the victim. This is all calculated, and Trump and his team see through their bullshit.

@VanSisean "freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom of reach!" -every progressive when it fits their narrative. "I'm being oppressed!!!!!!" -every progressive when it fits a different narrative.
1
@VanSisean notice the selective use of the vague term "punished".
