I've actually thought about this quite a bit, it's because "real" wrestling is quite boring to most people, all of the cool shit like suplexes and body slams and all that is really hard to perform against someone with good defense, that's why in collegiate or Olympic wrestling, they mostly use more tame, practical techniques. And in a long form, freestyle like match, it would likely go on forever and result in just fighting for position on the ground for insanely long amounts of time. Basically just be a war of attrition. So they fix it because it's more entertaining, they just let each other perform all of the cool moves that everyone wants to see.

@dondavis9543 seriously, there's very little margin for error on a lot of the high level maneuvers they perform, people can get severely injured or even killed. And even in the best of circumstances, those guys still get beat up and knocked around, I'm sure anyone who spent a considerable amount of time in the business have completely jacked backs and knees. I'm not a fan personally, I like MMA, but I have a ton of respect for pro wrestlers, they're real athletes.
